Part 1!

Formula One drivers are some of the most dedicated athletes, with them having to travel constantly and being put in high-pressure situations with little breaks. Here are the first 10 Formula One drivers competing on the 2022 seasons grid.

Sir Lewis Hamilton is a British driver for AMG Mercedes and has been with the team since 2012. Having previously raced for McLaren in 2007. He is a seven-time world championship winner, winning all those titles with the Mercedes team. He was the favourite to win the 2021/22 season, however, was beaten by Max Verstappen in Abu Dhabi to claim the Championship. Hamilton is currently the only black driver to ever have raced in Formula 1 and is a keen advocate for diversity.

George Russell is a British driver who recently joined the AMG Mercedes team this year, after previously racing for Williams from 2019 to 2021. His move from Williams to Mercedes was one of the most highly anticipated/discussed decisions from the 2021/22 season. He is yet to win a Grand Prix but has received one podium at the 2021 Belgium Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen is a Belgian-Dutch driver Red Bull Racing driver and the 2021/22 World Champion. He has been racing for Red Bull since 2017, but made his debut in Formula one in 2015, at the age of 17 making him the youngest driver ever to compete in Formula One. He is the son of Jos Verstappen who was also a Formula One driver, and now Max’s manager.

Sergio Perez, more commonly known as Checo is a Mexican driver for Red Bull Racing. He won his first Grand Prix in Bahrain in 2020 after making his Formula One debut for Sauber in 2011. He has raced for several teams including Sauber (2011–2012), McLaren (2013), Force India (2014–2018), Racing Point (2019–2020) and Red Bull (2021). Checo opened a foundation that helps orphans and children that have cancer.

Charles Leclerc is a Monégasque driver for Scuderia Ferrari. He made his debut in Formula one in 2018 with Sauber (now Alfa Romeo), however, he only stayed with the team for one season, before moving to Ferrari. He has a contract with Ferrari till the end of 2024.

Carlos Sainz is a Spanish driver for Scuderia Ferrari, having joined the team in 2021 from McLaren. Carlos has been in Formula One since 2015 racing for Toro Rosso (2015–2017), Renault (2017–2018) and McLaren (2019–2020). His father Carlos Sainz Sr was a double World Rally Champion.

Daniel Ricciardo is an Italian-Australian (races under the Australian flag) driver who is currently racing for the McLaren Formula One team. He made his debut in formula one in 2011 for HRT and has since raced for Toro Rosso, Red Bull, Renault and McLaren.

Lando Norris is a young British driver racing for the McLaren Formula one team. Norris only joined Formula One in 2019 and has only raced for McLaren. He has signed an extension on his contract to race for McLaren until at least 2025.

Valtteri Bottas is a Finnish racer driver, who currently competes for Alfa Romeo. He previously raced for Mercedes from 2017 to 2021, however, was replaced this season by George Russell. Bottas started Formula One racing for Williams, whom he raced for from 2013 to 2016. He is currently dating Tiffany Cromwell who is an Australian cyclist who has competed for Australia in the Olympics.

Guanyu Zhou is a Chinese racing driver who is making his Formula One debut this season racing for Alfa Romeo. He is the first Chinese driver to have a seat in Formula One and made a controversial move to Formula One after only finishing 3rd in Formula Two last season.
